I feel that Polartec Alpha is by far the best insulation for your money, especially when you consider its weight to warmth ratio. I’m happy to see OR starting to use Alpha insulation in more of their 2015/16 products, such as the Uberlayer and the new Deviator Hoody. You’ll be amazed at how little insulation is actually in the Uberlayer Hooded Jacket, and just how warm it keeps you. I can’t say enough good things about the Primaloft® Alpha insulation: it’s super light, packable, and warm. While the Super Layer Jacket is still for sale on the OR website, it has been heavily discounted could its days be numbered? I suspect this has something to do with the fact that the Uberlayer (in my opinion) is a far superior jacket. The Outdoor Research Uberlayer Hooded Jacket is worthy of its name and a welcome improvement over the previous Outdoor Research Super Layer Jacket I reviewed. This is a small but important feature of the Outdoor Research Uberlayer Hooded Jacket that is barely noticeable, but would be sorely missed if absent. These slide panels are breathable, just not as breathable as the rest of the interior liner. With the addition of glide panels in the arms and shoulders, you can rest assured that the sleeves of the jacket (or your base layer) won’t ride up your arms when putting on the Uberlayer. While this is ideal next to skin, it does tend to create friction with other fabrics. What are ‘glide panels’ you might ask? Well, in order to ensure the Uberlayer is as breathable and comfortable as possible, the interior is made up of a soft, micro-perforated material. My second favourite feature, one that will probably go unnoticed by most, are the interior glide panels located in the shoulder and arms. And one Napoleon pocket for your cell phone, wallet, or limp balm. While these are the only pockets on the inside of the Uberlayer, there are three more on the outside: Two hand warmer pockets placed high enough to stay out of the way of pack straps and harnesses. While most people may use these pockets for other purposes, it’s a good idea to consider keeping your skins warm inside your jacket on the ski down This way the glue remains tacky and ready for sticking to your skis for the climb back up. The Outdoor Research Uberlayer Hooded Jacket comes complete with a long list of features My favourite being the two internal ‘Shove-It’ pockets which are designed to accommodate a pair of skins (one skin per pocket). This is the single jacket you can count on to keep you warm on those active adventures in the mountains, but it also doubles as an outer layer around town or on fair weather days. While the Uberlayer is incredibly breathable, it will also shed a light rain and buff moderate winds but you don’t want to rely on it to repel heavy storms. It’s a trim fit, so it can be worn under a shell on colder days or as an outer layer on days without excessive snow, wind or rain. It’s ideal for belaying a climber, or as a mid layer while ski touring. The Uberlayer is designed to keep you warm while you’re stationary, and release excess heat when you’re active. This is in an active insulation piece (as is the Super Layer), hence the use of the incredibly warm Polartec Alpha Insulation, and breathable 100% nylon 30D stretch woven shell. With improved styling, a hood, and Polartec Alpha Insulation rather than the Primaloft Hi-Loft Silver Insulation found in the Super Layer Jacket, the new Uberlayer Hooded Jacket is a welcome improvement. This season, the good folks at Outdoor Research (OR) have upped the ante considerably and released the Uberlayer Hooded Jacket. Outdoor Research’s Super Layer goes Uber! Two years ago we reviewed the Outdoor Research Super Layer Jacket, to moderate fanfare. The participants applied a flower essence cream to the affected area.Īccording to the study, the essences may have biological properties that help numbness. In a 2017 study, Bach flower remedies reportedly eased pain associated with carpal tunnel syndrome. More in-depth studies on this purported benefit are necessary. There’s also no scientific proof that this energy exists. However, the studies above failed to mention exactly how the energy works. An older 2012 study found similar effects in adults with moderate anxiety.Īdditionally, a 2017 case report found that a Bach flower remedy reduced anxiety in a woman with menopause.Īccording to a 2008 review, flower essences provide energy that balances emotions. In a 2020 study, flower therapy reduced anxiety in children at the dentist. Here’s what the available research says about their potential benefits: Flower essences for anxietyįlower essences may have benefits for anxiety. The scientific research on flower essences is lacking. Potential benefits of flower essence therapy The extracted “oil” is not actually oily and may be mixed with a carrier oil for use.The plant material is steamed distilled or pressed, which extracts the fragrant compounds. One bottle of essential oil often requires several pounds of plant material. The flowers, leaves, fruit, or bark of a plant are gathered. On the other hand, essential oils are concentrated liquids of plant compounds. The finished essence contains no part of the flower.Įssences can be made with nonflowering plants and crystals using the same method. The water is filtered and preserved with brandy.Allegedly, sun exposure helps extract the energy of flowers. The water is boiled or placed in the sun.Flowers are submerged in natural spring water. Both solutions are made with plants, but they’re prepared in very different ways. Flower essences and essential oils are often confused with each other. Lower Wind ResistanceĮvery cyclist knows about wind resistance and how much of a determining factor it is when you’re riding. Since LeMond showed off just how impressive his aero bars were in the late eighties, it seems that everyone wants a turn at these innovative accessories.įor such an affordable piece of equipment, there are a staggering number of benefits that aero bars deliver and regardless of the brand or how much you spend on them, you can almost guarantee that you’ll achieve them all. As most people have a road bike, due to its versatility, the simple addition of aero bars can transform your riding experience into something that can rival even the most expert cyclist. Not every bike has been designed to work with aero bars, but you’ll find that a majority of both hybrid and road bikes have. The truth is, anyone can benefit from using aero bars in a number of settings, so unlike investing in an expensive tri or time trial bike, you’ll actually be getting so much more use from the bars than you first thought. There’s a common misconception with aero bars and all kinds of aerodynamic cycling gear that they’re only for serious athletes or professionals who compete as career and passion. They’re lightweight, great at taking corners, and easy to handle so the addition of bars just seems like a match made in heaven.Īlthough it is possible to attach aero bars to other bikes like mountain bikes and hybrids, you’re really going to get the best results from a road bike and when they’ve been correctly fitted. The most common place for tri bars is on a road bike and this is due to the versatility that these machines offer. For many cyclists, it’s just not feasible to spend a few thousand dollars on a tri bike for the main event and so the aero bar offers a solution with so many other advantages. What makes these bars so popular is that they achieve all of their benefits at a relatively low cost, which is nice to see in the bike gear market. No matter the name, they all have one purpose and that to improve your aerodynamic performance so that it rivals even the most skilled cyclist riding on the most expensive tri bike around. As they attach to your bike they offer a comfortable and aerodynamic alternative to your regular riding position and for that reason are favored by all kinds of cyclists, both expert and beginner.Īero bars go by many names in the riding world including tri bars, clip-on aero bars, or triathlon bars. Unlike standard bars on bikes, the aero bars comprise of both the long bars for the rider to grip and cushioned pads for your elbows. Another giveaway in the name is the aerodynamic abilitie that this gear gives your bike and the position that it puts the rider in which offers them a lot of benefits. What Exactly Are Aero Bars?Īlthough the name is sort of a giveaway, the basic description of aero bars is a set of handlebars that attach to those already on your bike. We’ll answer the most common questions asked by cyclists about these aerodynamic accessories and how exactly they can benefit you when they’re being used correctly. If you’re completely new to aero bars or just want a bit more information on how they can benefit you, this guide is the place to be. Anyone who’s ridden long distances or tried to improve their speed on the road will know how important is to achieve this narrow position and keep the wind from slowing you down, and that’s exactly what innovative aero bars help you achieve. Aero bars are quite simple in their design but it’s what they do for the rider’s position that gives them their fame. She gives her gifts as she pleases, just to see what will happen. She comes when she wants to, leaves the same way. So far he has never called the demon, never has sought her out of his own need and will. “They will need to speak with the Creator anyway.”Īnd that is another problem, Jimin thinks. Jimin slides his finger along the rigged side of the cup in his hold. There is a crease between his eyebrows, a pinch to his lips that tells of deep frustration. Every shaman knows how to- Damn it.” The shaman is angry. “Blood exchange can’t be forced, not that Namjoon will listen. His hands are deft as they braid a few long stalks of flowers and grass together. “This is not fair.” Taehyung mutters under his breath. The steam caress his face and smooth away worry lines. Jimin takes it and sips the warmth, sighs when everything starts to tingle, his fears and tiredness swept away just for a moment. It smells like the herbs and flowers that hang from the ceilings and are scattered around the corners of the hut. When the doors close behind Jimin’s back Taehyung holds up a steaming cup with something inside. The shaman, as well, is a friend Jimin doesn’t want to lose. It’s a place that has become home now, a place that soothes just by being there. Jimin avoids everyone and runs back to Taehyung’s little hut. There is only Bayani and servitude more cruel than anything Jimin has already lived or is able to imagine. He doesn’t need to look into the future to know that there is no future on the other side of the forest. It’s a stray thought that is born just as quickly as Jimin himself kills it. Only this time he will not be the one to pay it.įor a moment Jimin thinks about going into the forest and just walking away. Jimin knows enough about the demon by now to guess that there will be a price to pay, the same way he paid for his own gift with his freedom and childhood. Namjoon can force him to share blood, but no one and nothing can force the Creator to extend her power further on. His blood or not, it’s not Jimin’s choice to give the demon’s blessing away as if it’s nothing but cheap candy. “It’s not up to me.” Jimin says instead and turns to leave.Īnd the seer knows that to be the truth. It’s too heavy, the burden and plea and hope that is packed into just one exhale of a breath. “Please.” There is so much placed in a single word. Yoongi holds Jimin’s hand tightly before he leaves the cave, his face serious. Just like the seer already told the leader once – a cage is still a cage, no matter how beautiful it has been made to look like. Promises that he doesn’t fully trust, not even with the evidence of promises that Yoongi has kept so far. There are promises being made in exchange of Jimin’s blood. Jimin doesn’t want to talk with Yoongi afterwards. Moderate focus happens when we’re doing something but may experience some distraction. This is what I’m working on.” You may also notice what you are not paying attention to. Where are you directing this beam? You’ll find an immediate answer: “Oh, okay, what I’m paying attention to is this. Try making a fist, putting your hand on your forehead and pretending it’s a beam of light. Moderate Focusįocus is the spotlight of your attention. Basically, you get too engrossed in enjoyable things (like online shopping) and practically forget about your to-do list priorities (like the taxes due next week.) Hyperfocus vs. People with ADHD experience the frustrating and time-wasting side of hyperfocus when they ignore pressing responsibilities because they are too immersed in unproductive activities. Hyperfocus can prove helpful when you’re able to channel its intense focus into difficult tasks, such as paying bills or completing homework. However, it occurs more often in people with conditions that reflect attention issues, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Some neurotypical people may occasionally experience a hyperfocus-like state. An adult in hyperfocus may be reading a book so intently that they lose track of time and miss an appointment. Some people describe hyperfocus as a dream-like state wherein the outside world ceases to exist.Ī child in hyperfocus may become too engrossed in a video game to hear his parents call his name. Are there any differences between being hyperfocused and being in a flow state? Yes! A hyperfocused ADHD brain is completely absorbed in its task - to the point of seemingly ignoring or tuning out everything else. If you pay attention, you’ll find that the heroes bust a whole through the wall to enter this room, when there’s a perfectly capable door that opens up right to them. In the first level, you find a group of enemies setting up a card pyramid before the heroes burst in, unfortunately tumbling their creation. There’s also an extraordinary amount of detail poured into each stage too, equivalent to the sort of 2D love found in titles from Konami, Treasure or SNK. There are different levels to choose from too – the first, fifth and sixth are set in stone, but there are completely different levels to be played for the second, third and fourth, making for an extremely meaty, heavily replayable game. There’s an amusement park, but it’s based off of Gulliver’s Travels, so you get to destroy small-scale models of gigantic buildings. When you go through the mall, you get to witness the bizarre fashions worn by the civilians of the city. The levels are exemplary in the way that they flesh out the game world. The final boss is a multi-stage affair, a gigantic mass of flesh, metal and bone that hangs out from the oozing wall. One of the enemies is named Fag: The Ersatzman (the offensive name was probably unintentional), a super hero parody, whose background is supplied via a holographic projector. The first level boss is an absurdly muscled female – even more over-the-top than Tulks – who twists her torso like a screw and throws a temper tantrum when you beat her. There are the usual generic thugs, robots and fat guys, but there are also thick, abnormally busty girls in tight dresses, walking bug creatures, and mutated reptiles with abnormally large alligator heads. The diverse and outlandish cast are matched by an equally unique series of enemies. He attacks with everything from his tongue, to a secret tusk in his arm, to killer flies that are shot from his scales. Skullbyule takes on that role, being a huge mutant dinosaur man. With Zeldia having transformed into a fast, bird creature, there was a hole to be filled for hulking behemoths. The mechanics are mostly the same, though the action is speedier, and it’s one of the few beat-em-ups with vertical dashing, allowing you to somersault quickly upwards and downwards.Īs far as the characters, there are many returning faces from Denjin Makai, although they’ve been given an assortment of makeovers and upgrades. However, if you do a special move with a lower power gauge, you’ll get an “Overcharge” warning, which refills the gauge at the expense of one life bar. The special attacks still have their own power gauge, with replenishes automatically. It’s also one of the few games of its types to have an on-screen combo counter, though the enemy health bars, outside of the bosses, have been removed. While many beat-em-ups have dashing attacks, the characters in Guardians walk forward automatically with combos, which makes attacking multiple enemies much easier. There are still weapons to find, in the form of swords, bars and bombs, but your characters already have a huge arsenal that they seem redundant. This special button is used in conjunction with the standard attack and jump buttons to pull off the desperation moves. While the original Denjin Makai only used two buttons, Guardians uses three, with one solely devoted to a major powerful attack, which is usually some kind of projectile. Each has four slightly different combo strings, depending on what direction you’re holding the joystick, and each still has a number of special moves, which are helpfully indicated on the character select screen. There are eight playable characters now, which may in fact be some kind of record. It takes all of the elements of its predecessor, speeds up the gameplay, enhances the graphics, and kicks everything up to extraordinary levels. The name change probably occurred since Makai is no longer a playable character. TITLES = (type: Wii language: ES version: 20171021215601) 010E01 = Wii Backup Disc v1.Though the title screen indicates the name Guardians, various logos in the game feature the subtitle Denjin Makai II. These now have consistent vertex definitions. objs are in identical locations, the Hexagon representation orders the vertices the same.ģ. obj file so that the vertices are in some sort of location order - hence if the vertices in the different. But this time I've got a better solution. Was hitting this issue again Andy and came back to this thread to try and find a solution as I knew I'd found a solution before. Is there any hint on why I'm getting such different vertex order outcomes, and what can be done to try and overcome it?Īnd a related question - is there any way to copy the UV definitions from one model and apply them to another model (same vertices and faces)? But for Number 3, that is a monster tedious job. obj - swap the 4 vertices around and update the vertex references in the face definitions. This creates an absolute mess when the UV set is loaded as the load assumes the same vertex order.įor Number 2 it's feasible for me to manually edit the. But number 3 exports with almost every vertex in a different order to number 1. Number 2 exports with all but 4 vertices in the same order as number 1. They have been set up so there can be 3 different UV sets for the one model (to cope with different generations of DAZ models). I have 3 virtually identical models (same #vertices and #faces, but stuff gets jiggled here and there so they not identical-identical unfortunately. Unfortunately, Hexagon is a dog that's difficult to use, hence this plea.Ī related issue. My current importer / exporter are export 1.6 by Dennis Hawthorne and Import 1.8 by John Huffman / Inivis.įWIW, Daz get around this issue somehow with their Studio / Hexagon bridge. And it it's not yet available, I'd like to see that feature added. Is there any similar option in the AC3D import and export? I can't see any place to specify this. I've seen in some discussions that Blender has an option to "preserve vertex order" and this is needed to to morph modelling using blender. So, for example on morphs, even a simple model change will have absurd outcomes if applied as a morph to the original Studio mesh. etc.), it's very difficult (impossible?) to do more work on it back in AC3D because the vertex order of a model exported from Studio, imported to AC3D and then re-exported / imported gets changed. However, once a mesh is in Studio (and, for instance, rigged and weight mapped and etc. I mostly render in Daz Studio, but I use AC3D for most of my modeling up - because it seems much easier and more intuitive than anything else I use.
